For those 60 years old or older, every additional hour a day spent sitting is linked to doubling the risk of being disabled — regardless of how much exercise a given person gets, reports a new study by Northwestern University. The study is the first to show sedentary behavior as its own risk factor for disability, separate from lack of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity.
